Mood disorders are a category of mental health conditions characterized by significant and persistent disturbances in a person emotional state, affecting their overall well-being and daily functioning. These disorders involve disruptions in mood regulation, encompassing extremes of mood ranging from depressive lows to manic or hypomanic highs.

 Two major types of mood:

  • Depressive Disorders: Individuals with MDD experience prolonged periods of intense sadness,
hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities they once enjoyed. Other symptoms may include changes in appetite, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and feelings of worthlessness or guilt.
  • Bipolar Disorders: Characterized by manic episodes, which are periods of intense and elevated
mood, energy, and impulsivity. Depressive episodes may also occur. The manic episodes are severe and may lead to significant impairment.
  • Mood disorders can have a profound impact on various aspects of an individual& life, including
relationships, work, and overall quality of life. The causes of mood disorders are complex and often involve a combination of genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors.
